Address card (Lakcímkártya) (Important!): Upon your arrival, you must register with the relevant authority ("Okmányiroda") to obtain your residence card ("Lakcímkártya") and your tax identification number ("Adóazonosító jel"). These are essential for all contracts.
Pets: Moving with a dog or cat follows standard EU rules. You will need an EU pet passport, a valid rabies vaccination, and microchip identification.
Vehicles (car / motorcycle): Importing your Swiss car is possible, but it must be registered and re-registered in Hungary within a certain timeframe.
Currency (Forint, HUF): Hungary Use the Forint (HUF), not the Euro. Open a local bank account early for rent and living expenses.
